Airman Don “DJ” Pointer, a 2007 graduate of Sarasota High School and a former JROTC cadet, paid a visit to our ROTC cadets Wednesday. Serving with the United States Air Force as an MP, Pointer has completed two tours in the Middle East as security for EOD teams in Baghdad and Tikrit, Iraq. Cadets were treated to a fast paced slideshow displaying the sights and sounds of the Middle East.
Airman Pointer also talked about his years at Sarasota High School. He stressed to cadets the importance of setting goals and staying the course in order to achieve success academically and at work. During his talk, Principal Jeff Hradek made a surprise visit to the classroom and congratulated and thanked Airman Pointer for his service to our country. Following his presentation, Pointer answered questions from cadets about his time in Basic Training, Iraq and other military experiences. Upon completion of his military service, D.J. plans a career in law enforcement. Thank you Airman D.J. Pointer for your service to our country!
